IntroducingThe Terra Rubra Lions

Terra Rubra means "red earth" in Latin, and refers to the distinctive red soil in northwest Carroll County, Maryland. It's also the name of the estate in nearby Keysville where Francis Scott Key, author of The Star-Spangled Banner, was born in 1779.

The Terra Rubra Lions are a group of your neighbors who have come together to serve our community. Our club was chartered in 1966, and since then we've been offering a wide range of services to Carroll County, including college scholarships, vision assistance, loans of convalescent equipment, and youth athletic programs.

We are proud to serve the rural Carroll and Frederick County communities of Keysville, Keymar, Bruceville, Rocky Ridge, Detour, Ladiesburg, and Middleburg.

The motto of Lions Clubs International is We Serve. At Terra Rubra, service to our neighbors goes hand-in-hand with having a great time!

President's Message

Lion Beth Sandifer

Hello, and welcome to the new Web home of the Terra Rubra Lions Club! My name is Beth Sandifer, President of Terra Rubra. We hope you find our completely redesigned Web site useful and hope you will visit us often. Special thanks go out to our web master, Lion Larry Gray, for his dedication and hard work on developing this site.

As my term as President begins, we are very excited about the upcoming year! With our activities building renovation almost complete, we have much to be proud of. With the many hundreds of hours of volunteer labor from our Lions, Lions families, corporate sponsors, and community supporters and friends we now have a beautiful facility that will be used for our Lions Clubs meetings, fund raisers, and community service projects. ...

As you can see, we've completely redesigned our Web pages. We hope that you'll find them more informative, easier to navigate, and a bit more pleasing to the eye. The new website is still under construction, so we apologize if some of the pages aren't completed yet. Work continues, and we hope you'll keep dropping by as more of the website gets up and running. We also welcome your comments on the new look.

Work on our Middleburg Activities Building continues as well. We still have plenty of things to do, but the project is really shaping up. We're very proud of the progess, and we're looking forward to the grand opening! We invite you to come out and take a look.
