Meeting Notes

Monday, May 3

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Beth Sandifer presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 19 members and 6 guests present for the evening. Our guests were PDG John Hopkins and Sue Hopkins from Silver Run/Union Mills Lions Club, Lions Tom Harney, Brian Garber and Jerry Stroter from the Taylorsville/Winfield Lions Club and Charlie Cook.

Health & Welfare: Lion Linda’s mom was having her good days and bad days.

Reports: Lion Larry Stambaugh gave us an update on drilling of the new well.

Lion Larry also reported that we had around 85 Lions and guests turn out for PCC Clare Newcomer’s fund raiser in her run for International Director.

Lion Lyle Stutzman had received 29 Scholarship Applications and wanted the committee to meet to review them.

Lion Linda Bowers reported that we had 44 children for our Easter Egg Hunt. She also reported on the Glenn Kiser Benefit Bingo. Lion Brian gave a final report on the Sportsman’s Raffle.

President Beth reported that we had 44 Lions present for the Zone Meeting on April 19th.

Lion Bob Sell read the slate of officers for the 2010-2011 Lions year as approved by the Nominating Committee.

Business: We will have a Friendship-Prospective Member Night for our June 7th meeting.

Our Golf Tournament will be coming up on July 23rd. Be sure to keep looking for donation contributions for that event.

The 50-50 drawing with a value of $12.50 was won by Lion Lewana Walters and she donated it back to our Administrative Fund. President Beth adjourned the meeting at 7:53 p.m. with a Board Meeting to follow.

Board Meeting: Lion President Beth called the Board Meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. We had three requests for glasses sent to us from Westminster Lions that had been sent to them from the health department. After some discussion, we decided that we needed to call the health department to get some more information and bring it back for our next meeting. We adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

Monday, May 17

We met at 6:30 p.m. at Middleburg Park. Lion President Beth Sandifer presided over the meeting.

Attendance: We had 18 members and 7 guests present for the evening. Our guests were Lions Mary & Ben Hartman from Freedom District Lions and Lioness clubs, Lions Ruth & Jerry Howsden from the Taneytown Lions and Freedom District Lioness Clubs, Sarah Keefer, Charlie Cook and Don Rowe.

Health & Welfare: Lion Linda’s mom was back in the hospital.

Reports: Lion Larry Stambaugh reported that the new well was done with plenty of water flow. He was hoping to get the water line run and hooked up during the week.

President Beth introduced our Guest Speaker for the evening. Don Rowe from the Carroll County ARC spoke with us on how the ARC Program got started and how it has grown over the years.

Lion Kevin Trump reminded us of the Golf Tournament coming up on July 23rd at the Links of Gettysburg. Flyers will be available at our June 7th meeting.

Lion Lyle Stutzman had the 29 Scholarship Applications and wanted the committee to meet after the meeting to decide on the winners.

President Beth had $165.00 toward Lions Saving Kids Sight that had been collected in the cans at meetings and other activities to present to our treasurer to forward to the District. She also had $ 63.00 in Building Fund donations. She took a count for members attending Officer Training on June 12th.

Business: We will have a Friendship-Prospective Member Night for our June 7th meeting.

Board Meeting: Lion President Beth called the Board Meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. Lion Wayne reviewed the Membership & Activities reports for March and April. We approved a donation to the White Cane Program. We had three requests for glasses sent to us from the health department. We approved paying for the eye exam and glasses for a Keysville woman and donated toward the special glasses for each of two children from the Keymar Area. Lion President Beth adjourned the meeting at 8:23 p.m.

  • June Crab Feed tickets: Money or tickets need to be turned in to lion Larry Stambaugh at our June 7th meeting!
  • Our first meeting of April will be our Charter Night on Monday the 5th at Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont.
